How to Make a Kid Friendly, Crispy Deep Fried Calamari?

Calamari is the name of a type of squid, but the name has become synonymous with a method of cooking it. Homemade crispy calamari is quick, easy and definitely worth the effort.This gluten-free version of fried calamari is not only a family favourite but a a kid friendly dish too. This calamari recipe produces tender pieces of squid in a light, crispy batter.

INGREDIENTS

 

  • 4 large Baby Calamari cleaned
  • 2 cups Gluten-Free Plain Flour
  • 1 tbsp mixed dried Herbs
  • 2 cups Macadamia Oil
  • Tartare Sauce

METHOD

 

Step 1

Cut calamari in half lengthways. Open out flat. Slice diagonally into 2cm-wide strips. Combine flour and herbs in a bowl. Add calamari and toss to coat.

Step 2

Heat oil in a large, deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook, in small batches, for 1 to 2 minutes or until light golden.

Step 3

Drain on paper towel. Serve with tartare sauce
